Research interest

I was born and reared on dry land wheat and cattle ranch and joined the University of Guelph faculty, in 1973, after completing a Ph.D. in agricultural and applied economics at the University of Minnesota.

My current research interests include the evaluation of the effects of domestic and international policies on world commodity markets. I maintain an active interest in regional and multilateral trade negotiations and in contingent protection laws.

I am a former Chair of the International Agricultural Trade Research Consortium and currently serve as Director of the Canadian Agricultural Trade Policy and Competitiveness Research Network.
