  • Contracting in agri-food markets
  • Real options, investment and holdup issues in agri-food markets
  • Efficient public incentive schemes with moral hazard and asymmetric information
  • Performance of commodity futures markets
  • Various aspects of pricing efficiency

Jim grew up on a family farm in southeastern Saskatchewan. He received a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of California at Berkeley. Jim has been at the University of British Columbia since completing his Ph.D. in 1991. Jim is married and has two teenaged daughters.
